I am an Albertan, as well, although I have never been JW. I am really interested in your story, when you are ready.
a couple of months ago, i wrote asking this forum for information about the episcopalians.
many of you answered and i was intrigued by your replies.
i was finally able to attend a service today and enjoyed it very much.
Our family attends a very laid back Anglican (like Episcopalian) church. The priest is a fascinating speaker, and somehow it comes down to dealing with life, and being better people, not the exact details of religious doctrine. It is an extremely flexible and welcoming congregation. One of my female relatives was an Anglican priest, and the Archbishop of our diocese is a woman. As churches go, it is a good place, and way better than the many many others, I have tried in my life.

I have 3 aquaintances who are social workers. I called each of them, and mentioned the coming TV show to them, and it's connection to child abuse. They are all busy people who don't nomally watch much TV, so they were all very interested and grateful for the information and were planning on passing it on to their colleagues.
Interestingly enough, one already knew a lot about the issue and said that they (social workers) have a hard time investigating JWs, both in obtaining information and getting access to the house or child.

i have a little problem.for me it's a big problem because i'm in love with a jw and he love me too.. i would like know if the jw have a rules for love (teenagers)?.
not girlfriend before married ect ect.

Welcome to the board, and yes, JWs do have lots of rules about dating. The thread that notperfectyet gave you is one my daughter started, who also had a JW boyfriend. You will get lots of good advise on this board. Try doing a search using the words boyfriend or girlfriend as a topic (use the search feature under the castle on the homepage of this forum). Yes, my daughter and her boyfriend did breakup, because it just couldn't work.

i just knew it wasnt in my heart, my parents dont care but i told them that i dont want to go to any meeting or talk to any of our old friends.. they still dont know why..but i fell like it was to much of a currupted situation..i felt like i was taking orders from man, not from god.
i was not baptized yet, but i was going strong in the ministry as a unbaptized publisher.
Dazed and Confused, I should NEVER edit posts late at night when I am tired. I messd up the spacing. It was a message to SS to e mail me since his e mail is locked, and I may have some information for him. I'm sorry for the confusion, and I will try and go back and fix the spacing up.

I live in Edmonton, too, but am not a JW. I have to do the motherly thing and say, please don't blow your life off in bars. Enjoy life but make sure that you get your education. You have a future to look forward to.

ok, i'm watching the "o'reilly factor", they just aired the case of two hs students who engaged in oral sex on a bus in silverlakes maryland while several other students cheered them on and the bus driver did nothing.
the principal of the school system didn't inform the school board until after the local newspaper broke the story and he refuses to say how the students will be punished.
My teenage daughter told me that some of the "cool" kids at her highschool are pretty open about talking about their sexuality....sigh...the things they talk about in french class when the teacher isn't around. They seem to feel that oral sex isn't "sex", so induging in it casually is OK to them. Some of the girls are starting to get a reputation, although the boys don't seem to be criticized the same way for it. The double standard still exists. I found this article, and the ages seem really young compared to what happens here (as far as I know).

By no means is it all the kids in the school, and most of the kids in my daughter's social group are not even dating yet. I am so glad she isn't "cool".

Thanks for letting us know about this, Scully!!!! I had completely missed it. I am so glad there is going to be some Canadian coverage of the problems in the WT. My thanks to all involved, both for their hard work and tremendous courage.
